Don’t get me wrong, I love the classic French tip but I’m really into the more modern takes on old school style and these rainbow French tips keep the original simple style and just make them a little more playful and vibrant. And (bonus!) they’re not hard to do. A perfect way to make a statement, show your fun side and rock an easy modern look.
We went through thousands of different styles to find our favorites (loving every minute of it) and there’s a little bit of everything here. From individual colors on each finger to the more intricate and unique looks, if something here doesn’t inspire you then your next mani is on me.
Ooh and this isn’t the first time we’ve had a chance to look at rainbow nail designs (and it hopefully won’t be the last). This is the first time we’ve focused specifically on this modern take on the traditional French tip though and I’m excited .
We are starting this collection with these simple square-shaped short nails. On each nail, we’ve got a French tip painted in different colors. I like how bright the colors chosen are, giving us a playful look.
Here’s a slightly different tip set. A French tip greatly changes depending on the shape of the nails. We’ve got rounder nails now and pastel nail colors giving us a softer look.
These nails have small differences from the previous one. For one, we’ve got pastel colors which are a bit more vibrant, and the tips of the nails are also sharper. This looks like a nice, fun nail set which is a bit bolder than the previous one.
I like this nail set because it’s the perfect short nail length, giving enough space for the base nail and the French tip. I also like how each nail for both hands is painted with different colors.
Here’s a nail set that really follows the rainbow French tip theme. I like how we’ve got thick diagonal French tips that really give us the look of a rainbow. It creates a really modern take with both the colorway and the design. I’m loving it.
We have here a nail set that’s a bit different. We’ve got some multi-colored tips which are lined with a bolder color than the tips. On some nails, we’ve also got some inverted hearts. I love how they maximized all the colors on each nail.
Here’s a two-tone nail set that looks so fun! Each nail has two different colors on the tips, which are perfectly divided in the middle. These nails kind of remind me of gummies!
Here are some more rainbow French tips on short nails that have rounded edges. There are a variety of colors on this set, some of which are similar while some are very different from each other.
Here’s a fun way of adding a bit of color to your French tips. We’ve got these lengthened nails with a pink base that are then painted with different colored tips. I like the added gold butterfly design, which transforms this look into a classier one.
Now, this is what you call a rainbow tip set. We’ve got these rainbow designs on the tips of the nails with the different colors being layered on each other. I like how there are some flowers on the side of the nail which puts the entire rainbow design together.
There are some small differences in this nail set. Instead of full tips, we have some nails which are painted with polish entirely. I like how this adds variation to a nail set’s design. The full color accent nails create a great contrast.
Here’s another cool rainbow nail set utilizing two different colors for each French tip. These tips are V-shaped, which each side being painted a different but similar color. This duo-tone style is a pretty modern take by itself, it really works with this rainbow style.
I love this trippy-looking slanted French tip set. On each nail, there is an alternating darker and lighter tip, with each nail being painted with a different color.
We’re adding a different twist to these French nails. Instead of just plain colored Frenchies, we’ve got an added floral theme. Each nail is painted with some flower or leaf detailing, which livens up the nail set.
Here’s another rainbow French tip set, but this time a lot more retro. We’ve got these multi-colored tips, with each nail having three different layered hues of the same color! Such a cute layered ombré.
If you want your classic rainbow Frenchies, then you’ve got it. These are layered in a rainbow shape, but the blue is painted with a shimmering shade which adds more depth and shine to the look. This fantastic look is easier done than you’d think but this classic rainbow look might be my favorite yet.
Here is our first black nail set in this collection. We’ve got a jet-black nail base topped with some multi-colored glitter tips. I love the contrast that the glitter and the black base provide. The colors are subtle but you’d not miss them.
We’ve got another rainbow tip, but instead of a solid color, we’ve got some tip outlines. The difference in this set is that the top and bottom of the tips are painted in two different colors, which perfectly complement each other.
We’ve finally got some added designs to this nail set. Instead of just plain colors, these nails have the cutest Hello Kitty nail toppers dressed in Monsters Inc. costumes! How cute!
Here are some light and refreshing nails. We’ve got a different light color on each nail and some white flowers on top! It’s such a simple yet refreshing look.
I absolutely love the charm of nails that are a bit imperfect. These rainbow nails look as if they’ve been painted on with watercolor, and I love them so much!
If you’re tired of only having solid colors on your French tips, then try adding an ombré. These will also allow you to add more colors to your nail set.
I love these chic-looking short round nails. I love how we’ve got some tips and some nail moon outlines to match.
Here’s another variation on your classic Frenchies, which look so retro and hip! The nails on this set are all painted in white and are then painted with multi-colored linings.
What really stands out from this set is the shape of the Frenchies. Instead of the tips following the shape of the nail tip, these are fully flat and extend to the middle of the nail.
Here’s another cool nail set. We’ve got these wavy round abstract shapes lined in white and filled with a light purple color. The tips are also shaped into a circle or a curve which is definitely a very unique design.
Here’s a nude nail set that has multi-colored nail tips. The base on these nails is a light nude which allows the tip colors to pop a lot more.
Here’s a nail set that uses most of the colors in the rainbow. Some nails have similar shades, but it’s definitely a pretty by-the-book rainbow set.
Here are some thick Frenchies that have an ombré on each nail. Each nail also has a different set of colors, but when you look closely, you’ll notice how the entire set is actually connected.
Here’s another multi-colored nail set with a lining in the middle. This time, the lining is all in white which creates a retro type of look.
We’ve got this nail set that’s got more than just some solid color. Each nail is painted with a different color, and the accent nail is painted with two. On top of that, we’ve also got these two-tone dots on top.
This is another nail with a different take on the classic rainbow Frenchies. The tips on these nails contain multiple colors and actually create a full rainbow on each tip. They take a steady hand to create but I’m a big fan of thin French tip nails for their minimalist vibe.
Here’s a nail set that contains a bunch of different colors on each nail tip as well. This time, we’ve got some mini ombrés going on. I love how the entire nail set looks with all the tips stuck together.
Here’s a pretty cool nail design that works on outlines instead of full solid shapes and colors. The entire nail and tip outline create some sort of blended effect, which results in this pretty rainbow set.
Having a lot of colors in a nail set might make it hard to create a classy look. This nail set uses some gem bands on the tip outlines, which makes the set a bit posher.
Here’s a medium-sized round shape nail set with some glitter all over. Each nail also has a tri-color ombré effect which incorporates a bunch of different colors but overall is connected with the nails beside them.
I love how light and soft this nail set is. This softness was achieved by using a milky white base instead of the normal nail base. The pastel colors on the tips also create an overall light look.
Here’s a pretty cool nail tip set that has these cool warped waves. The colors used are layered on each other creating a trippy effect.
If you want a nail set that’s got some glitz and glam, then this is the one for you. We’ve got glitter on the entire nail, and some silver glitters on the outline of the tips.
Here are some really print square-shaped nails which remind me of a pretty mermaid. This set uses so many magical colors that blend really well into each other. We’ve also got some flowers and wavy dots all over.
Here’s a bit more glitter, but this time it’s entirely focused on the tips. Each still has many different colors blended into each other, but this time the colors are all painted with glitter.
You don’t need to have all the nails on your set covered in rainbows. These are a mix of lavender nails and slanted rainbow tips. I think that the lavender really balances the many colors in the rainbow tips really well.
Here are some bright multi-colored tips which are painted with a lot of hearts and are the same color as the nail tips. I love this adorable addition to an otherwise simple set!
Here’s a really cute and opaque rainbow tip set. The layering is done really well, and I also love the cool, wavy diagonal effect that the artist did.
We’ve got these tri-color rainbow Frenchies that are topped with these adorable clouds with rain falling down. I also love the cute little frogs that go so well with this joyful look.
Here we’ve got these pretty diagonal bright multi-colored tips that are lined with a contrasting color. I like how this entire effect produces a fun yet cohesive look.
Here are these pretty pink base tips topped with a whole lot of glitter. These nails are lined with multiple colors, and the tips extend to the sides of the nails.
